I chose this snapshot from the film Mulholland Drive as I initially liked the dramatic Hollywood look of it and the composition of the two figures and structure of the car around them. I started off with a rough quite abstract painting using colours relevant to the photo however I didn't like the was they turned out. For the second outcome I decided to just use the colours purple and a light red for the background as I didn't want too much going on colour wise. I thought this turned out well adding to the romantic, passionate subject matter of the painting. I used acrylic on a loose sheet of canvas which I'm getting used to as I normally paint on stretched canvas where the paint blends more easily.
